World Record Attempt 

  Contender Northeast "Team Big Dog"will embark on a journey from the Statue of Liberty, New York to Port of Ireland Marina, Bermuda to beat the current record of 22 hours and 23 minutes completed in July 17, 2002. The crew hopes to make the 774 mile trip in 19 hours or less. This record run is designed to demonstrate the high performance of the Contender 39 ST as well as its durability and reliability.  Upon reaching their destination the crew of three plan to refuel and set another record run from Bermuda to Virginia Beach the very next day (710 miles).
